Want to learn more about how to prevent online fraud during the Holiday rush? As online spending increases steadily in November and December, so do the opportunities for online fraud. Let’s face it, we all love a great deal. Do you know who else loves all of these deals? Cyber criminals!

So how can you stay safe shopping online? Here are eight tips to help you keep you safe.

Prevent Online Fraud

At the end of the day, while these tips can help, it is up to you to make sure that you are going to the right sites. If a deal is too good to be true, it probably is. A very important tip that can also help keep you safe year round on all of your devices is having an up to date antivirus program. Yes, you don’t need to be a virus expert to investigate a suspicious file, an antivirus program will do it for you.

Of course an antivirus will do the job for you but it will need your help. How? Well, at least once a week, check for updates in your security software and run scans several times a week. Many holiday scams are variations of tricks you may encounter at any time of the year. So when in doubt never hesitate to search, investigate, and ask for help, you’re always better to be safe than sorry.

Scan websites with multiple website reputation engines to check if the website is safe and legit. What you need to use are tools that detect malware risks, phishing risks, and deliver results that you can share with others. I believe these tools below should deliver the confirmation you need.

Effective fraud protection leads to happy holidays, for everyone but the fraudsters. Be proactive! Fraudsters are not going anywhere this holiday season, better be vigilant than become a victim! To click or not to click is the question!
